1)
south of the border - this
was recorded in Dec. 1977, on my second visit to the Folkway in
Peterborough, NH. Jon Hall
did a taping session for me one afternoon at the
restaurant, in which we put down several of
my songs. as an
afterthought, we taped this not-very-funny adaptation of a 'folk song'
with lyric modifation by JH.
in short, we're scraping the bottom of the barrel here. i
take no responsibility for this.
i'm sviss. i vas only following orders.
2)
tutu & the cannibals - this performance was recorded at the Folkway in
Peterborough, NH. in June, 1978.

song appears elsewhere in
the archive but
include it here under 'new material' because the
verbal
introductions has some fresh
interest.

5)
mr
white's song - this performance was recorded at the Folkwayin
Peterborough, NH in July, 1982. i include it here for
several reasons. one, it has a rather
whimsical verbal introduction, and two, the last verse
lyric was
re-written for this performance. as far i know this is the only
recording
of this version of the lyric.

6)
the
holly tree carol - this
performance was recorded at the benefit concert for Juicy John Pink's
in 1977. it's a
Christmas
carol i
learned from Jonathan Hall in Peterborough, NH that year. i sing
it here
with Jim Post providing backgrwound vocals and
'commentary'. it was a fun time.
7)
street
racer - this
performance was recorded at a live show at Juicy John Pink's
in Nov. 1977. i include here
because it begins with a verbal introduction that
provides an additional background note on the
song. for the

8) cupcake
- this
performance was recorded at a live show at Juicy John Pink's
in Nov. 1977. i include here
because there is only one other performance of this rare gem. ;))

9)
to sarah - this
performance was recorded at a live show at Juicy John Pink's
in Nov. 1977. it is a duplicate of the alt.
performance on 'JJ Pink's live' except that here the
extended verbal intro about Court Dorsey's trial
is included. at that time
poet, Court D. was in jail in New Hampshire in connection with the
1977 demonstrations at the Seabrook nuclear rpower
station there.

10)
send
me an angel - i
recorded this at Alan Wingard's house in Maine in 1989, about 5 years
after i stopped performing. Aln waned the song because i had performed
it once in Peterborough years earlier at a concert at his church there.
i had to relearn it and neither the performance nor the recording
are very good but i include it because there is only one other version
of this fine song, also not very good quality.
